Living Domains and Outdoor Connection
The ground level is organised as a sequence of adaptable rooms that read as one space when the glazed doors are open. The kitchen is central with a working island and breakfast counter, facing both the dining table and the main lounge. An additional sitting area addresses the braai and hearth, allowing easy shifts between cooking, dining and relaxation. The covered patio uses timber soffits and adjustable screens to manage sun and wind, supporting year round use and reinforcing the modern architectural home intent for this Garden Route setting. For broader context on process and scope see our George architects services.
Material Strategy and Detailing
A restrained palette of timber, stone, steel and glass sets a durable framework for daily use. Timber ceilings and floors bring warmth to the main level while masonry and brickwork define service areas and the fireplace wall. Custom metalwork at stair balustrades and pergola elements provides a consistent detail language. Lighting is layered with pendants over work surfaces and discreet ceiling fixtures in living zones. Bedrooms are oriented to views with built in storage and soft finishes, maintaining a quiet atmosphere that reflects the coastal climate of The Garden Route.
