PROJECT NAME: GOLF CART PORT 3560 PROJECT LOCATION: FANCOURT, GEORGE PROJECT DATE: 2022 PROJECT INFO: INFO
As a small addition to a beautiful house we did in Fancourt, the golf cart port is characterised by small details in and around every corner. While the structure is built from SA Pine timber, Garapa timber was used as cladding and left untreated to allow the structure to age with time. Along with an IBR roof, a clear polycarbonate layer inside ensures a waterproofed interior.
“The door handle is the handshake of the building” (Juhani Pallasma, 2011), and therefore, special consideration went about designing and making the cart port’s timber door handle. Off-site manufacturing allowed for quick installation with just four screws. A sliding rectangular lever pushes the timber deadbolt through the door frame and into the golf cart port’s substructure. The lock sits within a timber encasing, securing the lever in place. When unlocked, the lever and deadbolt retract, allowing the door to open effortlessly.
