Arrival Sequence and Public Realm
The entrance court is shaped by broad timber roofs on steel columns and curved rendered walls that guide movement. Brick paving defines a shared surface for queues and gathering while allowing for easy maintenance. Landmark shade structures announce the Big Tree threshold from the roadway and provide a wayfinding marker that remains visible across the site. Planting beds and a small central tree soften edges and help manage pedestrian desire lines. For related scope and process, see our commercial architecture services.
Retail Court and Material Approach
The retail edge uses glazed shopfronts set beneath extended eaves to ensure visibility and protection from sun and rain. The consistent brick field ties the arrival court to the retail terrace and to the secondary gates, while exposed timber and concrete elements convey a straightforward construction logic suited to remote locations. The project contributes to Commercial Architecture Eastern Cape through durable detailing and a clear sequence that supports visitor services without competing with the natural setting.
